What is a Postpartum Doula?
If you have ever wondered what is a Doula, you wouldn't be the only one! In many cultures around the world, when someone becomes a mother, especially a first time mom, their immediate family member, a mother, grandmother, aunt or someone they trust, usually comes over and helps with the new baby, house chores or looking after other children. Basically anything that can help the new mom rest, recover & bond with her newborn.
In our society, this kind of kinship is often lacking, not because we are not close with our family, but very often our family members live far away, in other cases they simply cannot help as much as they would want to, work commitments etc. Whatever the reason may be, this is where a role of a Doula comes in. A Doula is someone who will be there for you and help you with what ever you may need, while ensuring you get as much as rest and care as possible.
Postpartum Doula Packages can be individualised, depending on your needs and how long you want the support for/how frequent etc.
